PYEI Phase 5 Application Form 2024
The Presidential Youth Employment Initiative (PYEI) Phase 4 in Gauteng was scheduled to end on September 30, 2023. However, the Gauteng Provincial Government has extended the contracts for beneficiaries on the system as of August 1, 2023, for an additional three months, until December 2023. This extension only applies in Gauteng and is funded by the provincial government.
In the Eastern Cape, the Department of Education and Walter Sisulu University have partnered to implement youth development and capacity-building programs from August 21 to September 5, 2023, across 12 districts. The partnership includes training for 200 education assistants and general school assistants in small business management and assisting with applications for those who qualify for a Bachelor of Education. This project is set to continue for the next three years as part of the PYEI.
As of now, the application for the 2024 PYEI Basic Education Employment Initiative (BEEI) is not yet available because contracts for the 2023 period are still in effect.

PYEI-BEEI Orientation Training
Congratulations on being selected for the Presidential Youth Employment Initiative (PYEI) Phase IV in the Basic Education Sector! As part of this program, you are required to complete an online training. The training should take around 10 hours to finish, but you can do it at your own pace, one lesson at a time. After completing all the lessons, you’ll be able to download a certificate.
Each lesson ends with a quiz to help you remember what you’ve learned. It’s a good idea to have a notebook to take notes in whatever way works best for you, like drawings, summaries, or mind maps.
We hope you enjoy the training and find it valuable. We’re excited to see how you progress!
Teaching Assistant Application Form Date
To address high youth unemployment in South Africa, the government launched the Presidential Youth Employment Initiative (PYEI). One aspect of this initiative is the Basic Education Employment Initiative (BEEI), which creates jobs for young people in the Department of Basic Education. These jobs include roles as teaching and general assistants in schools.
The most recent phase of the program, Phase 4, began at the end of 2023. During the Medium-term Budget Policy Speech, Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana announced an extension of the PYEI. However, it’s currently unclear which specific programs under the initiative, such as the BEEI that appoints teaching assistants, will be included in this extension.
