WCED Online Application 2025 Grade 8, Documents Required, Admissions Process, Deadline

WCED Online Application is reminding parents and guardians to submit placement applications for Grades 1 and 8, along with transfer applications for the upcoming 2025 school year, prior to the approaching deadline.

As of April 5th, the WCED has already received 103,796 applications. A combined total of 342,497 applications have been submitted, accounting for parents who have applied to multiple schools.

Documents Required For Applications

The necessary documents for all applications include:

1. The most recent official school report card.
2. Proof of identity, which can be an ID, birth certificate, or passport. In the case of a foreign learner, a passport, study permit, proof of application for a study permit, copy of the parent’s asylum seeker or refugee permit, or a police affidavit can be provided if these documents are not available.
3. Immunisation card (Road to Health Chart) for primary schools only.
4. Proof of residence, which can be a rates account, lease agreement, or an affidavit confirming residence.

WCED School Admissions Process

The WCED Online Application process is currently open for Grade 1 and Grade 8 admissions for the 2025 school year. Here’s how to apply:

Online Application System:

WCED uses an online system for applications. Here’s the process:

1. WCED Website: Go to the WCED website’s Admissions section: https://wcedonline.westerncape.gov.za/admissions
2. Registration:
   • New Users: Click on “Parent Register” and create an account.
   • Existing Users: Log in with your ID number and password.
3. Learner Application: Select “Learner Application” and choose the grade level (Grade 1 or 8).
4. New Application: Click on “New Application” to begin the application process.
5. Fill Out Details: Fill out all the required information about the learner and the desired schools.
6. Supporting Documents: Upload certified copies of the following documents:
   • Proof of Identity (ID, Birth certificate, or passport) for the learner. (Foreign learners might need additional documents)
   • Proof of Residence (Rates account, lease agreement, or affidavit)
   • Last official school report card (for learners who have been to school)
   • Immunisation card (Road to Health Chart) (Primary Schools Only)
7. Submit Application: Once all details and documents are uploaded, review and submit your application.

WCED School 2025 Calendar

In 2025, the school calendar will span from 15th January to 10th December, encompassing a total of 199 school days. It is worth noting that schools in inland provinces and coastal provinces usually have distinct starting dates, typically differing by a week. However, in 2025, all schools nationwide will commence the first term on the same date, 15th January 2025, and conclude after 52 school days on 28th March 2025.
