The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) has initiated the application process for its Military Skills Development System (MSDS) for the year 2025, providing an opportunity for young and qualified South Africans to enlist in the military. The MSD System accepts approximately 2,000 volunteers who will be assigned to the SA Air Force (SAAF), SA Army, SA Military Health Service (SAMHS), or SA Navy (SAN) for two years.
Initial military training will be conducted, followed by specialized training based on the chosen service, and subsequently deployment to a specific division, unit, or base. Following the 24-month MSD period, a select few MSD volunteers may receive short-term contracts to serve in the full-time force (typically for 10 years), while the rest are expected to utilize their military skills in the Reserve Force.
