Good news for those who missed applying to universities in Kwazulu Natal in 2023! The Central Application Office (CAO) is now accepting late applications from January 20th to March 31st, 2024. If you missed applying last year, you now have the chance to submit your application for admission.
The CAO handles admissions for four major universities in Kwazulu Natal and several private colleges. In this blog, we will focus on the late application process for the University of KwaZulu Natal, the University of Zululand, Durban University of Technology, and Mangosuthu University of Technology.
CAO Late Application Fee 2024
To submit your application online, there’s a fee of €45. But if you apply before 5:00 PM on January 20th, you can get a discount, and the fee will be reduced to €30. So, it’s a good idea to apply early to save money on the application cost!

Here’s how you can apply for first-year programs through the Central Applications Office (CAO):
- Visit the CAO website: Go to www.cao.ac.za and click on the “apply” tab, then select “apply now.”
- Provide Identification: Enter your ID number or your CAO number on the website.
- Personal Details: Fill in your personal information and continue. You’ll receive your CAO number and password.
- Next of Kin Information: Input details about your next of kin.
- Academic Results: Enter your Grade 11 or Grade 12 results.
- Choose Your Courses: Select up to 6 programs you want to apply for.
- Save Important Information: Make sure to save your CAO number, password, and application fee details.
